  • La Vergne Police Chief Christopher Moews joined other Rutherford County police chiefs for a panel discussion at the Murfreesboro Police Department during Leadership Rutherford’s Benches and Badges Day, where they discussed law enforcement careers and community safety.   • Rutherford County offers a busy weekend of events.   • Middle Tennessee State University received a $50K grant to sustain its peer Learning Assistant program in first-year STEM courses that improved student success. Faculty expanded the initiative after data showed lower failure rates + higher grades in classes with LAs.  Rutherford County Source

  • MTSU Athletics closed 2025 with championship wins in women’s basketball and men’s tennis and opened a $66-million Student-Athlete Performance Center on July 30; football began reshaping its staff ahead of 2026. The department also posted a 94-percent graduation rate.  WGNS
