HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital added 18 new critical care beds and a new ambulance bay as part of a $42 million upgrade while planning a freestanding ER in eastern Rutherford County (near Lascassas Pike and East Pitts Lane) to offer 24/7 emergency care. WGNS
- ➤ In 2025, Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital expanded its critical care unit by adding 18 beds & a new ambulance bay as the county grew. The hospital and Murfreesboro Medical Clinic will soon build a $19 million freestanding emergency department on Lascassas Pike to offer 24/7 care. WGNS

- ➤ Harpeth High School boys rallied to a 55-45 win over Liberty Creek Friday night while the girls fell 58-19; the teams will host Houston County on Tuesday before opening district play at Cheatham County Central later this week. Murfreesboro Post
- ➤ Alec Oglesby started for MTSU men's basketball and scored 25 points with eight 3-pointers in an 88-51 win over Louisiana Tech at Murphy Center on Jan. 2, setting a team record with 22 3-pointers. He returned after missing most of last season with an injury. The Daily News Journal
