- ➤ On Jan. 8, Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland recognized Police Sgt. Mark Wood with a STARS award for his work with the Homeless Outreach Support Team (H.O.S.T.) as multiple nominations highlighted his extra efforts, including paying for community resources out of his own pocket. - ➤ MFRD’s Assistant Fire Marshal Shan Womack was elected president of the Tennessee Fire Safety Inspectors Association at the annual conference at Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro on Dec. 8, 2025—she will lead the group with a focus on teamwork while Fire Inspector Jonathan Gaither joined the board.
