  • On Saturday, SRO Ali Albouhamed received the Jerry Anderson Hero Award at the MLK Jr. Breakfast at MTSU from the Murfreesboro NAACP for restraining a student from jumping over a rail. The award honors NFL player Jerry Anderson’s legacy.  Rutherford County Source
  • Four Murfreesboro Fire Rescue firefighters were honored on Saturday at a breakfast at Middle Tennessee State University for rescuing an elderly man from a house fire on East Burton Street on Aug. 12. Captain McCullough, Engineer Cartwright, and Firefighters Meyer and St. Peter received the NAACP award.  WGNS

  • City leaders will honor ten retired public servants as inaugural recipients of the Legacy Recognition Program at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at City Hall Rotunda in Murfreesboro (111 West Vine Street). The ceremony celebrates decades of service and community impact.  Murfreesboro.com

  • MTSU club hockey dropped late third period leads in a two-game sweep by No.1 ranked Liberty on Jan. 19 at the Lahaye Ice Center, snapping a 16-game win streak. The Blue Raiders will host games on Jan. 23-24 + then travel on Jan. 25 for subsequent matchups.  MTSU Sidelines
  • Middle Tennessee football added 16 new players from the transfer portal after its window closed Jan. 16, and All-Americans Hogan Wasson and Jason Hardy join the Blue Raiders — helping to balance the 15 players the team lost.  MTSU Sidelines
