- ➤ On Thursday, Jan.22, Mayor Shane McFarland honored Murfreesboro Police Officer Dustin Nicholson with a STARS award after he saved a woman from jumping off the I-24 bridge at Medical Center Parkway. - ➤ Jessica McClintock, a Lipscomb Academy sophomore, led her team to win the Division II girls individual title on Wednesday, Jan. 21 and the state team championship on Friday, Jan. 23 at Smyrna Bowling Center — the victories mark a rare state sweep since 2020. Murfreesboro Post
- ➤ Middle Tennessee Lady Raiders coach Rick Insell reached his 500th win on Jan. 23 after a 63-54 victory over Liberty University at Murphy Center — he is the first coach to earn 500 wins in both high school and college ranks. MTSU Sidelines
- ➤ The Siegel boys’ bowling team won its first Division I TSSAA state championship at the Smyrna Bowling Center on Friday with a 22 to 5 victory over Mt. Juliet.
