  • Linebaugh Public Library (105 W. Vine St.) will soon offer a free hygiene vending machine stocked with essential items, thanks to a partnership with Archie’s Promise and funding from The Christy Houston Foundation; the installation is designed to support families and individuals who visit the library.  WGNS

CULTURE NEWS

  • Downtown Murfreesboro invites couples to explore a historic walk on Main Street featuring restored brick buildings and the iconic pre-Civil War courthouse square. An early jazz event, Sweetheart + Swing, is set for Thursday, Feb. 12 at the Center for the Arts, with dinner dates planned for Valentine’s Day.  WGNS
  • Murfreesboro native Jordan McCullough advanced on American Idol Monday night after singing 'The Goodness of God' for judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood, and the Oakland High graduate and Zeal Church worship leader said he was nervous but grateful to share his gift.  Murfreesboro Post

  • A Davidson County court ordered TDEC to pause its review of BFI's plan to add a 70-foot waste layer to Middle Point Landfill after Murfreesboro sued for bypassing local oversight. The review will resume only after required regional board procedures and public hearings are completed.  FOX 17

SPORTS NEWS

  • Middle Tennessee Christian School announced Monday, Feb. 9 that former professional player Brennan King has been named interim head coach of the high school baseball team after Addison Alford stepped down, and the school will begin searching for a permanent coach as the team prepares for the spring season.  Murfreesboro Post
