- ➤ Murfreesboro blocked BFI Waste System’s plan for a 70-foot vertical expansion at Middle Point Landfill on Feb. 10 by obtaining a court order that halted TDEC from processing the application+BFI must now submit a local review application with a public hearing on odor concerns. MTSU Sidelines

- ➤ Former DA Bill Whitesell, who served for nearly 34-year and co-founded the Child Advocacy Center to help local youth, improved the justice system by prioritizing victims. He is now focused on securing a permanent building for the CAC as it operates from a cramped 1,600 sqft facility. WGNS
