  • Sixty Stones River Manor residents gathered yesterday for their annual Valentine’s celebration, where couples with decades of love enjoyed a decorated photo booth (free kisses) and were recognized as kings and queens in assisted and advanced care.  Murfreesboro Post
  • Branches Counseling Center offers affordable, Christ-centered mental health care with a sliding-fee scale and will host its Extending the Branch fundraiser on March 5 at The View at Fountains to support over 1,000 locals facing rising mental health needs.  Murfreesboro Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • United Way of South Central Tennessee is hosting its seventh annual Storybook Breakfast on Saturday, March 7 at Overall Creek Elementary School, offering breakfast + crafts, story time, and appearances by popular characters to support early literacy.  WGNS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Murfreesboro Police ask local businesses, churches, schools, and residents to register on-site AED devices using the PulsePoint AED app (registration is free) so responders can locate them faster if a heart stops.  NewsChannel 5
  • The Tennessee Board of Regents received a four-year extension that pushes its sunset date to June 30, 2030 after state lawmakers approved the bill on Feb. 9. The move helps secure ongoing technical training & career programs at the local Tennessee College of Applied Technology that serves Murfreesboro students.  WGNS
  • The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance urges locals to review earthquake insurance and preparedness during Earthquake Awareness Month this February — many standard policies do not cover quake damage, so residents should consult their agents for proper coverage.  WGNS

HEALTH NEWS

  • Meharry Medical College is expanding from its Nashville campus to serve rural Middle Tennessee with mobile health units + clinic acquisitions that will offer critical dental care for youth and other underserved patients.  NewsChannel 5
  • The Tennessee Department of Health reported very high flu activity last week, with East Tennessee seeing sharp increases while Middle Tennessee had minimal levels. Health officials urged vaccinations + regular hygiene to prevent complications as the season continued.  The Daily News Journal
  • Sheriff’s Office deputies and community members donated 40 units of blood Tuesday at Blood Assurance as part of the Battle of the Badges friendly competition with local emergency services.   • A new MTSU report shows Tennessee home prices rose 0.7% in the third quarter of 2025 and increased 3.53% annually, with trends varying across metros (Nashville and Knoxville rising while Memphis cooled).
