- ➤ Tennessee gas prices dropped three-cents on average last week to $2.52; this rate is nearly 30-cents lower than a year ago and gives drivers a seasonal break from higher costs. Murfreesboro Post

- ➤ Local students can join the 2026 4‑H Chick Chain as Rutherford County Agriculture Extension Service is accepting registration for a backyard chicken project. Participants pick up vaccinated Red Star chicks the week of April 13 and prepare for a poultry show and sale on Sept. 19 (registration open until March). WGNS

- ➤ At MTSU, students have invested $7.6M in campus renewable energy projects using an $8 fee since 2006. For the 2025 to 26 cycle, over $256,000 is set for projects such as TVA's EnergyRight Green Switch program (renewable energy purchase) and Earth Month celebrations in April. Murfreesboro.com

- ➤ Murfreesboro 911 dispatchers now use a new tool linked to the city's PulsePoint AED Registry to quickly find AEDs during cardiac emergencies, while local businesses, churches, schools, and community members are urged to register their devices (registration takes minutes and is free for all). - ➤ On Feb. 14, MTSU erased a 14 point deficit but fell 82-80 to Western Kentucky at E.A. Diddle Arena as Teagan Moore’s two free throws with three seconds left sealed the Hilltoppers’ win. The Blue Raiders now stand at 12-13 and will face conference opponents next week. Rutherford County Source
- ➤ MTSU women's basketball earned CUSA honors when Alayna Contreras averaged 19.5 points in a win over Jax State and was named Player of the Week, while freshman Macie Phifer received Freshman of the Week honors with 28 points against Kennesaw State. - ➤ Rutherford County standouts were named Mr. and Miss Basketball finalists on Thursday by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association. The awards will be presented at Tucker Theater at the MTSU campus on Tuesday, March 10 at 5:30 p.m. Murfreesboro Post
