  • Lanes, Trains and Automobiles in Murfreesboro, a long-time family entertainment spot, will close on April 4 when its building is sold to new owners, but it will operate normally until then.  Rutherford County Source

CULTURE NEWS

  • A 14-foot bronze sculpture titled HeArt of Tennessee now stands at the Discovery Center front lawn to honor local creativity and community; it was designed by MTSU professor Michael Baggarly + local artists as part of the Cultural Arts Murfreesboro Laureate project.  WGNS
  • Eric Snyder, a local sculptor and MTSU art teacher, revived the Boro Art Crawl to highlight Murfreesboro's visual artists on Friday, March 5, when the downtown square will host the event from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.—the crawl will run monthly through November.  Murfreesboro Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • State Rep. Sparks and State Sen. Bowling have proposed a bill to lower the school bus driver age from 25 to 23 while keeping current safety and licensing requirements. The proposal aims to ease the driver shortage in school districts across Rutherford, Wilson, Williamson, and Coffee counties.  WGNS

  • AccuWeather predicts Tennessee will face repeated rounds of thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds starting in March — tornado risk is lower than last year, but flash floods remain a concern for communities like Murfreesboro.  The Daily News Journal
  • Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation has launched the Participating Neighbors Program inviting residents near Patterson Park to apply as design sites for sustainable, native food landscapes.
