- ➤ Ransom Schoolhouse at 717 N. Academy Street, built in the late 1800s, is preserved by the Rutherford County Historical Society and welcomes visitors Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon, while $25 annual memberships support this living piece of local history (a tribute to late C.B. Arnette). WGNS

- ➤ Rutherford County Extension Service offers two spring events at Lane Agri-Park (315 John R. Rice Blvd) in Murfreesboro. The free plant swap runs Saturday, Apr. 26, 9 to 11 a.m., and adult sewing classes start Monday, Mar. 9 with sessions costing $12 to $25. WGNS

- ➤ Middle Tennessee Baseball had its best start since 2013 after an 8-2 win over Illinois State and will try for a weekend series sweep at Reese Smith Jr Field in Murfreesboro. MTSU Sidelines
- ➤ MTSU Blue Raiders lost 5-3 to Tampa in the College Hockey South semifinals on Saturday. The team clinched a spot in the ACHA National Tournament on March 18 in St. Louis and will face Vanderbilt in an exhibition (7:00 p.m. CDT) in Nashville. MTSU Sidelines
- ➤ Middle Tennessee earned two tennis wins on Sunday at the Outdoor Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro by defeating Alabama State by a score of 5 to 2 and later overcoming Austin Peay. The Blue Raiders capped a strong day in local sports. WGNS
- ➤ On Feb. 28, MTSU hosted its Lightning Invitational at the Campus Recreation Center where 11 colleges scrimmaged to build community & sportsmanship. The men’s volleyball club held the event as part of its semester-long series meant to strengthen ties among teams. MTSU Sidelines
