- ➤ The Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation will host its 18th Annual Rutherford Society Gala at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 at the Stones River Country Club, featuring keynote speaker Inky Johnson and honoring donors who contributed $1,000 or more—Susan and Lee Moss will receive the Dr. Liz Rhea Philanthropist Award while the Murfreesboro Anesthesia Group will be honored with the Physician Champion Award. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Veterans Park will have its official groundbreaking tomorrow at 10 a.m.—the 150-acre park off Interstate 840 and Veterans Parkway will include walking trails, a playground, pavilions, pickleball courts, and an outdoor event area. City officials including Mayor Shane McFarland, the City Council, and the Parks and Recreation Commission will be on site to mark the start of the project. Rutherford County Source
- ➤ For the first time, Tennessee's state budget includes $20 million over the next two years for victim services — a change that advocates say will help support all crime survivors. Jennifer Escue of the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence said the funding will cover services like therapy and shelter without depending on federal money — a necessary shift after recent national cuts.
