GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • TDOT has scheduled lane closures for ramp improvements, paving, and bridge repairs across Middle Tennessee starting March 29 but will suspend activity on interstates and state highways over the holiday weekend from 6:00 a.m. Apr. 2 to 6:00 p.m. Apr. 6 + local drivers should plan ahead.  Rutherford County Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • Vanderbilt swept Tennessee in the series finale on March 29 at Hawkins Field, winning 16-15 on a walk off grand slam by Tommy Goodin amid several late lead changes.  The Daily News Journal
  • MTSU men’s tennis team swept its doubleheader on Sunday by beating Tulane University and Tennessee State University at the Outdoor Tennis Complex, and the Blue Raiders will host Memphis on April 10 at 1 p.m.  MTSU Sidelines
  • Joakim Kemell scored his first NHL goal for the Predators on a unique play after being tripped on his way to the Tampa net. The 21-year-old rookie, who debuted last season and was recalled on March 6, has played in eight games this season.  The Daily News Journal
  • Residents can vote to honor a standout TSSAA girls athlete for March 23-29, with nominees including Kloe Kolb, Madison Davenport, Amare Moore, Camryn Brewer, Abby Dennis, Layla Mallory, Elizabeth Librero and Samya Sandifer — voting ends at 2 p.m. on April 2.  The Daily News Journal
