  • On Tuesday, March 31, Rutherford County Schools faced nearly $500M in repair needs from aging HVAC systems while the library board planned an emergency meeting over a director's refusal to relocate books (citing First Amendment concerns). CULTURE NEWS

  • MTSU announced GloRilla as this year’s spring concert headliner, and students shared mixed reactions with excitement and criticism. The free event will be held on Wednesday, April 29 at Murphy Center at 7 p.m.  MTSU Sidelines

ECONOMY NEWS

  • MTSU and MTE unveiled plans to build the Middle Tennessee Quantum Technology Hub at the 2026 Forum on Growth and Regional Challenges held at the Student Union, and they aim to create quantum infrastructure that will drive economic growth in the region (leveraging MTSU’s research strengths and MTE’s wide service area).  Rutherford County Source

  • In early February, Highland Academy students and staff traveled to Kenya and faced flight delays and long layovers.   • A TDEC inspection on Mar. 9 found multiple violations at Middle Point Landfill in Rutherford County, including unsatisfactory litter control and insufficient soil cover.
