CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Murfreesboro Police — with help from MTSU Police’s K-9 unit — are searching for a man with reddish hair and a beard, dressed in a black hoodie, pants, sunglasses and gloves, who robbed the Halls Hill Pike Dollar General at about 3:30 p.m. on April 1 and ran toward The Grove apartments; anyone with information should call 615-849-2673. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Rutherford County Commission approved a $15M forensic center on Weakley Lane in north Smyrna to perform local autopsies using government funds — not borrowing money. A groundbreaking is expected on July 1 — the center will finish by January 2027 to lower costs and reduce delays from outsourcing autopsies to Nashville. The Daily News Journal
- ➤ Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue firefighters completed a 10-day Hazardous Materials Technician Course provided by the International Association of Firefighters over the past two weeks, raising their number of certified technicians from 83 to 101. Fire Station 11 maintained a team of 30 who remain ready to respond to hazardous material incidents—an increase that boosts local emergency preparedness—ensuring the community stays protected. WGNS

- ➤ The Tennessee Department of Health confirmed three new measles cases in Middle Tennessee, bringing the state's total to four; one case is linked to the first confirmed case on March 21 (all three cases are being held in their homes).
