CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Authorities are investigating an armed robbery at the Dollar General on Halls Hill Pike that occurred at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2025, when a suspect in all black with red hair fled toward the Grove Apartment complex near Journey Dr.—the search with MTSU’s K-9 unit did not find him. WGNS
- ➤ An 18-year-old driver reported feeling scared when she accidentally cut off 41-year-old Paul Jacob Marx, who then allegedly threatened her with a handgun on Northwest Broad Street near Interstate 840 in Murfreesboro; deputies quickly located him, charged him with two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and he was later released on a $20,000 bond with a hearing set for July 21. - ➤ A grand jury indicted Murfreesboro man Tyler Watson for vehicular homicide by reckless conduct, four counts of reckless aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of reckless endangerment after his Dodge Ram struck a Toyota Solara on I-24 in July 2024—killing driver Daniel Roberts—while he was distracted by his phone; Watson was arrested around 6 p.m. Monday and later released on bond. - ➤ The inaugural Rutherford Races to Read fundraiser will be held at historic Oaklands and will feature local celebrities competing in literary-inspired inflatable horse races to benefit The Rutherford County Library Foundation. - ➤ On April 3, the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch and several flood advisories across Middle Tennessee as heavy rain led to warnings of life threatening flooding and flash flood conditions, with areas near Murfreesboro advised to avoid flooded roads.
