  • On Saturday, April 12, the Rutherford County Agriculture Community will host Adventures in Agriculture at Lane Agri-Park on John R. Rice Boulevard in Murfreesboro from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—a free event where families enjoy hands-on farming, live animal exhibits, and food displays—and volunteers will collect food donations to support the local Backpack Program and Food Bank.  WGNS

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Trader Joe’s will open its first Murfreesboro store on Thursday at 8 a.m. with a brief ribbon cutting near The Avenue Murfreesboro shopping center at 2305 Medical Center Parkway by Robert Rose Drive—local TDK Construction built the 9,400-square-foot store, which will hire 65 new crew members at pay rates from $14 to $17 per hour as the chain’s seventh location in Tennessee.  The Daily News Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tennessee now has the third-lowest gas prices nationwide as the statewide average for regular unleaded reached $2.79 as of Monday—Rutherford County drivers are paying about $2.70 while Bedford County leads with $2.64, and other counties range up to $3.18. AAA said that a one-cent rise over the past week may reverse if crude oil prices drop further.  WGNS

HEALTH NEWS

  • Johnsonville, LLC has recalled over 22,000 pounds of cheddar bratwurst made on February 5 because hard plastic was found in the 19-oz packages—consumers are told to throw away or return the product to the store. Tennessee is one of ten states where the recalled product may still be in freezers and no injuries have been reported.  FOX 17

  • The Middle Tennessee football program will host the free Blue Raider Showcase presented by MMC at Floyd Stadium on April 12 at 2 p.m. to celebrate the end of spring practice—fans can get autographs beginning at 1:20 p.m.  Rutherford County Source
  • Murfreesboro area voters are invited to choose the top TSSAA boys basketball player for the 2024-25 season—nominees include players from Blackman's, Eagleville, La Vergne, PCA, Rockvale, Siegel and Stewarts Creek. The poll will close at noon Friday.  The Daily News Journal
