- ➤ Child Advocacy Center purchased an 8,000 sqft building at 503 Highland Terrace for $1.3 million to expand child abuse services and will start renovations this summer while the county commission contributed $1M—supporting growing local needs. The Daily News Journal
- ➤ A local car show benefiting the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is set to take place soon in Murfreesboro. - ➤ Middle Tennessee State University broke ground for the $83M Womack Commons student housing project on the southeast corner of campus yesterday — its first new dorm in over 25 years — and the 554-bed complex will open for fall 2027 with an adjoining 541-space parking garage. - ➤ Murfreesboro City Schools named Kimberly Hix principal of Cason Lane Academy for the 2026–27 school year today. Hix, a former student and assistant principal for four years (a Teacher of the Year), was unanimously chosen by a review panel as the district begins its search for an assistant principal. - ➤ Rutherford County Schools has bought eight new buses to improve student transportation after route disruptions earlier this year; the district is now asking for qualified drivers + applications can be submitted on its website. Rutherford County Source
- ➤ The Tennessee House Finance Ways and Means Committee approved an amendment to expand the Education Freedom Scholarship program by 15,000 vouchers (totaling 35,000) after removing the citizenship documentation requirement. - ➤ The 18th annual state archery championships were held in Murfreesboro, with 1,900 student competitors from 88 schools advancing to the national tournament in Louisville, Ky, set for May 7-9.
