ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ TDOT reported that a tractor trailer was lodged under a bridge on I-40 Westbound at the I-40/-24 split in Nashville yesterday — blocking all lanes and closing the ramp from Murfreesboro Rd to I-40 — with no bridge struck as the incident occurred just before 12:30 p.m. FOX 17
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ MTSU’s Alpha Psi Omega debuted a new version of The Crucible on April 10 at the KUC Theater that puts the focus on the play’s women rather than the men. The production, which faced short rehearsals—cancelled sessions due to tornadoes—will continue today at 2 p.m. with support from the theater department. MTSU Sidelines

- ➤ MTSU officials confirmed that a federal immigration database change affected six international students, with four having their visas revoked and possibly needing to return home if they do not secure valid status. UT reported that nine international students faced deportation risks as both universities worked—through their International Affairs offices—to guide and support the affected students. WGNS
- ➤ Retired Army Col. Charlie Pigg attended MTSU's 75th anniversary ROTC celebration on April 10 at the Veterans Memorial outside the Tom H. Jackson Building, joining about 150 alumni to mark a program that since 1950 has trained over 1,600 officers — the event also honored alumni killed in action. WGNS

- ➤ State Senator Shane Reeves said the legislative session is winding down as final bills head to the Finance Committee and the Senate Floor — seven bills on tax adjustments, public safety and opioid treatment advanced this week, and he received the Legislative Leadership Award from the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians. - ➤ Deputy Director Ram Balachandran of the Murfreesboro Transportation Department has created a computer model to predict traffic delays in construction zones through April 19. The model guides drivers through planned lane closures (including work on New Butler Dr, Hwy 99, and Minor St) as local crews use flagging operations and lane shifts. WGNS
- ➤ The Murfreesboro City Council approved a $5.35 million contract by S&W Contracting for the Adaptive Signal Control Technology project—covering 14 intersections to ease traffic—and construction will begin in the next few months with TDOT grant and local funds. - ➤ Applications are now open for the Murfreesboro Police Department's May 2025 R.A.D. Women's Self-Defense Class, which will be held each Tuesday in May from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at MPD Headquarters, 1004 N.
