  • Japanese automaker Nissan is cutting prices on the Rogue and Pathfinder — offering discounts from $670 to $1,930 — to keep vehicles affordable amid rising tariffs. The company also will launch a redesigned Leaf later this year and introduce a new hybrid Rogue in 2026.  The Daily News Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • Metro Police are investigating a deadly stabbing that took place Monday in the parking lot of Chadwell Elementary School—students will now attend classes at the former Gra-Mar Middle School with buses and car drop-offs arranged for their safe transport.  NewsChannel 5

  • Readers are invited to vote in the Student of the Week poll—open until noon on April 17—to help decide which Middle Tennessee cheerleader earns the top spot based on nominations from local school officials.  The Daily News Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • MTSU’s baseball team won the final game of a three-game series against LA Tech at home on Sunday — sophomore pitcher Chandler Alderman threw a nine-inning complete game with 12 strikeouts, four hits and three runs to snap a seven-game losing streak.  Murfreesboro Post
  • The MTSU softball team won a close 4-3 game on April 13 during the Conference USA series against WKU as all three games were decided by one run with Jana Want’s late home run clinching the series in game three — her ninth home run of the season.  Murfreesboro Post
  • Middle Tennessee Christian named Shala Ferrell as its new girls basketball coach on April 14—she replaces Hannah Jones who stepped down in February after four seasons. Ferrell played for Grundy County and coached at Westwood Middle where she won three conference titles and is set to lead the Lady Cougars next season.  The Daily News Journal
