- ➤ Sheriff’s deputies and community members will bowl at a fundraiser hosted by the Jacob Strong 615 Foundation on May 6 and 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the LTA Depot to raise funds for teen suicide prevention in Rutherford County. Four-person teams will pay a $200 entry fee to compete for a $500 cash prize each night. WGNS

- ➤ Trader Joe’s opened its fourth Middle Tennessee location last week — the first store in Murfreesboro. The 13,050 square foot store on Medical Center Parkway is open daily and has been warmly welcomed by locals. Murfreesboro Post
- ➤ Saks Global Tennessee will permanently close its La Vergne facility at 1 Walden Books Drive, affecting 446 workers as reported in a WARN Notice filed with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Layoffs will begin on June 4 and finish by November 30 — local Workforce Essentials and the Northern Middle Local Workforce Development Board will support impacted workers with job search and retraining resources. - ➤ Fans lined up at local record stores on April 12 for Record Store Day, where hundreds gathered at The Great Escape, LRB Skate and Record Shop and Crying Cat Books and Records—helping local stores sell rare releases despite tough competition from resellers.
