CRIME NEWS

  • Murfreesboro police are investigating a theft at Lowe’s on Old Fort Parkway where nearly $8,000 in lawn tools and equipment were stolen from the store in broad daylight — surveillance video shows the suspects exiting a silver Dodge Caravan with a mismatched trailer as they loaded items including an Ego minibike and a Toro zero-turn mower before fleeing the scene.  WGNS
  • Detectives in Murfreesboro are looking for two people who stole a zero turn lawn mower and a minibike worth $7,900 from Lowe's on April 20—bolt cutters were used to cut the cables and the items were loaded onto a trailer hitched to a minivan.  Rutherford County Source

  • Local teen Mattie Pruitt advanced to American Idol's top 14 on Monday night after performing 'By the Stars' while playing piano for the first time in the contest.   • TDOT announced on April 7 that its updated 10-year plan includes widening Old Fort Parkway with construction set to begin in 2031 at a cost of $61.5 million and launching the Cherry Lane interchange at I-840 in 2026 at $39.5 million—City Council reallocated local funds last year to boost these projects as traffic grows in Murfreesboro.  Murfreesboro.com
  • Murfreesboro Public Safety celebrated National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week from April 13th to 19th to honor 911 dispatchers whose quick response helped coordinate police, fire, and EMS services.
