  • Rock N’ Roll Sushi debuts its 2026 Summer Series menu on April 20 featuring choices like the Surf and Turf Roll and Headbanger Shrimp available at all locations until July 12 — customers can enjoy bold flavors and refreshing seasonal sips throughout the summer.  Rutherford County Source
  • Milkshake Factory at The Avenue is serving a new carrot cake milkshake as a limited-time special, and customers can ask for the hidden menu for extra shake options (located in the old Sweet Cece’s spot between Paris Baguette and Bar Louie).  Murfreesboro.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • Cannonsburgh Village, built as a Bicentennial project in 1976, turns 50 this year as part of the America 250 lecture series by the Rutherford County Library System. Dr. Stacy Graham from MTSU will lead a discussion on June 13, and the Revolutionary Rutherford exhibit debuts (May 30 at Linebaugh Library).  WGNS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • MTSU is renovating Kirksey Old Main with a $54 million project that will restore original windows and add a new lobby and is set to finish this summer; built in 1910 and long serving academics, the historic building has been updated several times.  MTSU Sidelines
  • The Tennessee Higher Education Commission announced today that the state led the nation in FAFSA completion as nearly 55,000 high school seniors finished their applications and Rutherford County schools like Blackman High recorded over 80% participation — a result of dedicated statewide outreach.  WGNS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sixteen National Guardsmen finished a 10-month officer candidate course and were commissioned as 2nd Lieutenants on April 19 at Smyrna’s Volunteer Training Center (led by the 117th Regional Training Institute). Murfreesboro’s Steven Farley earned awards for academic, leadership and overall excellence during the ceremony.  Rutherford County Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, the American Lung Association released its 27th annual report showing nearly half of U.S. children breathe unhealthy air, with over 427,343 in Tennessee affected. Murfreesboro and other metro areas received failing ozone smog grades & groups urge policymakers to improve air quality for kids.  FOX 17

SPORTS NEWS

  • Middle Tennessee Christian School hired Laila Nipper as the new coach for both the boys and girls high school soccer programs, adding a leader with international experience to the team. Nipper came from Zion Christian Academy in Columbia and holds U.S. Soccer coaching licenses (C, D, and F).  WGNS
