The schedule includes Boro BBQ Fest at Hop Springs Park in Murfreesboro, a Block Party and Touch-A-Truck event in La Vergne, Rutherford County’s Earth Day Celebration in Historic Downtown Square, Pioneer Days in Cannonsburgh Village, and the St. Jude Rock n’ Roll Running Series in Nashville. - ➤ The 2nd Annual Cheesecake Festival will take place on Saturday, May 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 315 John R Rice Blvd in Murfreesboro. The family-friendly event — featuring over 150 vendors, live entertainment, rides, a free petting zoo, and a public tasting cheesecake contest — will offer a free mini cheesecake and goodie bag to the first 200 adults and require $5 cash for parking. - ➤ Rutherford County is planning new school construction as growth continues and borrowing costs rise, with Mayor Joe Carr saying the county’s strong bond rating—like a high credit score—helps secure competitive loans for major projects. County officials are reducing existing bonds and will raise employee pay for cost-of-living adjustments while keeping property taxes unchanged as the budget reaches $1-billion. WGNS

- ➤ MTSU Colleges Against Cancer and the Service Learning in Health Promotion class are collecting household items and packaged snacks for Nashville Hope Lodge until Tuesday, April 29—donations can be dropped off at three campus locations. - ➤ Ascension Saint Thomas and Lifepoint Rehabilitation received state regulatory approval to build a new 40-bed inpatient rehab hospital on Kennedy Drive next to the Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford campus. Construction is scheduled to begin later this year — the facility will open in 2027 to offer intensive nursing, physical and occupational therapy, and speech pathology care for adults. WGNS
