  • Police are investigating a man’s death after his body was found on a sleeping mat in a locked 2007 Hummer at E.A. Towing on Southpointe Court, the vehicle having been towed on April 5 from Walmart on Old Fort Parkway after being reported abandoned—an autopsy is requested to determine the cause of death.  WGNS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • MTSU public health faculty visited Siegel High School to show over 300 students a typical day in health work—aiming to spark interest in public health careers. The university will celebrate more than 2,375 spring graduates at commencement ceremonies on May 9 and May 10 at Murphy Center, where the public may attend or watch live streaming.  The Daily News Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Conservation Director Ben Nanny said that pet goldfish released into the Lotus Pond at Ijams Nature Center have bred for years and now threaten local species as they outcompete native fish and even eat newt egg masses. Tennessee law prohibits releasing pet fish into new waters—residents are urged to re-home or return unwanted fish to protect natural habitats.  The Daily News Journal
