- ➤ Murfreesboro native Jordan McCullough finished American Idol as runner-up on Monday night after delivering a gospel-infused rendition of Jenn Johnson’s 'Goodness of God' during the three-hour finale. - ➤ At Oakland High on Tuesday, officials honored students Addison Brinkley and Savannah Posey for quickly alerting a teacher when a classmate suffered a medical emergency (EMS provided prompt care) at the school. Rutherford County Source
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Department of Health reported the lowest food health scores for May 6 — 12 at local restaurants including Seasons of Murfreesboro, Bubble Tea Cafe, and The Clay Pit Bar. Establishments must display their inspection reports in a prominent area for public review. Rutherford County Source
- ➤ Rutherford County earned perfect 100 health inspection scores for May 6 to May 12, 2026 at local food service, school and pool facilities. The Department of Health inspected these sites and required each to post its latest report for public view. Rutherford County Source
- ➤ Seasons of Murfreesboro scored 61 on May 6 during a health inspection at 2227 Old Fort Pkwy; inspectors found 22 violations and embargoed 10 lbs of food — a follow-up inspection will occur within 10 days to check for compliance. Rutherford County Source
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Creek Wood High Flag Football Team won the region championship by beating Murfreesboro Central 16-14 on Friday night and qualified for the state tournament. The Lady Red Hawks made history as the first team to earn a spot in TSSAA's state tournament. Murfreesboro Post
