- ➤ Main Street Murfreesboro is hosting the Summer Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest on June 14 in downtown Murfreesboro where drawing starts after 7:30 a.m. and finishes by 11:00 a.m.—judging is set from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and winners will receive local gift cards. Rutherford County Source
- ➤ Rutherford County’s Cemetery Community received $250,000 in state funding to restore the historic Cemetery School in Murfreesboro—$125,000 went to Friends of Cemetery School and $125,000 to the Mel Malone Family Foundation, and the building will open as a museum in summer. Murfreesboro Post

- ➤ Murfreesboro Police are investigating a series of vehicle burglaries that occurred from May 7 to May 10 on Old Fort Parkway and Franklin Road on the west side of the city—photos of two suspects have been released and the public is asked to call Detective Jamison at 629-201-5581 if they recognize the men. - ➤ Rutherford County Schools approved a new bus contractor deal on Thursday after drivers threatened to strike. The agreement gives a 24.5% raise over four years—17% in the first year and 2.5% in each of the next three years—and a $4,000 insurance stipend, with contractors needing to sign by May 29 or the district will buy buses and hire drivers if more than 35 routes go unfilled.
