Stogner Jr., a Vietnam War hero from Murfreesboro who earned a Silver Star, four Bronze Stars — including three for valor — and three Purple Hearts, will be honored tomorrow by the Nashville Sounds during the True Blue Day and Salute to Armed Forces game presented by Middle Tennessee State University at First Horizon Park in Nashville with ceremonies including family and close friend Laurie Witherow and a ceremonial first pitch at 2:05 p.m. Central. - ➤ A pedestrian was struck by a CSX train at the crossing on Main Street & Overall Street in Murfreesboro Friday afternoon, and police reported that the crossing was closed which caused traffic delays in the area. NewsChannel 5

- ➤ Siegel High School freshman Aiden Golson was named Tennessee State Champion for Microsoft Word certification at the MOS Tennessee Spring Qualifier and will represent the state at the U.S. National Championship from June 16th to 18th in Dallas. - ➤ Murfreesboro City Council approved on May 22 the FY26 Community Investment Trust funding that will award $490,696 to 29 charities after recommendations from the Committee on Contributions. The Trust—established in 2021 from electric department sale proceeds—has already given over $850,000 to charities and nearly $5,000,000 toward community projects, with new grant applications opening in fall.
