  • Middle Tennessee Electric will host the Tennessee Valley Lineman Rodeo next weekend at Williamson Family Farm, with journeymen and apprentice line workers competing on May 30 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and on May 31 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free event will offer food trucks, a kids’ zone, and a monster truck — a show that highlights skill and fun for local families — in a day full of excitement.  WGNS
  • The 16th Annual Field of Honor display is free during Memorial Day weekend—flags fly in a solemn formation at First United Methodist Church—and gives visitors a chance to sponsor a flag or donate to support local youth programs. The event runs Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  WGNS

  • Barrett Firearms Manufacturing Inc. is constructing a $76.4 million Barrett Manufacturing & Technology Campus at 8808 Manchester Pike to bring 183 new jobs to Murfreesboro—this facility will combine multiple functions and is expected to open in early 2027.  WGNS

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity is set to join Bonnaroo 2025 from June 12-15 to promote recycling and repurposing at the festival. Their ReStore in Murfreesboro at 850 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd.—which prevents over 560 tons of waste from ending up in local dumps each year—will show festival goers creative ways to reuse materials.  WGNS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Murfreesboro Transportation Department released a RAM ROAD REPORT that shows moderate traffic for Memorial Day weekend and planned lane closures and shifts on routes like Joe B Jackson Parkway and Manson Pike through May 31. Deputy Director Ram Balachandran said the report uses a computer-generated AI profile—helping drivers follow proper traffic controls during work days.  WGNS

  • Eagleville High School's baseball team tied the TSSAA record with a 6-5 walk-off win over Coalfield on May 24, earning their fourth straight Class 1A state championship and marking their 44th consecutive postseason win — a record shared with Farragut.  The Daily News Journal
  • Columbia Academy won its second straight Division II-A state baseball championship on Friday with a 2-0 win over Clarksville Academy at Reese Smith Field in Murfreesboro—three pitchers posted scoreless games over three days.
