- ➤ United Way of South Central Tennessee’s VITA program returned roughly $6.1 million to the local economy during the recent tax season by filing 3,526 tax returns and saving over $1 million in fees; it will begin volunteer training in the fall (training scheduled to start soon). WGNS
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Founding Central Magnet School principal John Ash ended his tenure yesterday at the downtown campus — ahead of joining Smith County Schools as director — and his successor Clark Blair from McFadden School is set to lead the school. This change marks the end of Ash's long-term leadership, with Blair expected to continue the school's legacy. The Daily News Journal
- ➤ Buchanan Elementary Principal Ashley Witt (Rutherford County Schools) was named a semifinalist in the Tennessee Principal of the Year program that honors outstanding school leaders statewide. She said the recognition reflects the hard work of her school community. Rutherford County Source

- ➤ CVS is contesting Tennessee’s new law that bars companies from owning both pharmacies and pharmacy benefit managers after Gov. Bill Lee signed it last week. The company spent a seven-figure sum on TV ads to oppose the bill, and the law will take effect in 2028 pending court action. FOX 17
