- ➤ Murfreesboro detectives are asking for help to identify two suspects when a wallet with cash and debit cards was stolen from an unlocked Jeep Grand Cherokee at Titans Tire Shop & Services on NW Broad Street on May 30th—witnesses saw a man enter the vehicle before a man and woman left in a silver car. - ➤ International Folkfest will run from June 8—15 in Murfreesboro as dance troupes from Puerto Rico, Poland, and Estonia join local Cripple Creek Cloggers for a week-long cultural celebration. Founder Steve Cates said local donations are ensuring that the 80 international guests will be fed, housed and transported. WGNS

- ➤ New data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows Tennessee workers earned an average of $30.68 per hour in April while working about 34.3 hours weekly for roughly $1,052.32. The report ranks Tennessee seventh lowest nationally & notes the state defaults to the federal minimum wage of $7.25 & compares unfavorably with higher wages in other southern states. - ➤ Sixth grader David Philippee from Black Fox Elementary received the Best of MCS award at the May 27 meeting for winning first place with his Easy Dispense invention, which earned him an invitation to the National Invention Convention in Michigan this summer — his teacher said it marked a good start for his class. The school board also announced math competition winners and approved a summer school budget amendment and a five-year agreement with Finalsite to improve communications. Murfreesboro Post
- ➤ Middle Tennessee State University’s board will consider a proposal to raise in-state tuition and fees at its June 17 meeting as a public comment period runs from May 23 until June 10—proposed increases would raise tuition from $4,167 to $4,407 and fees from $1,031 to $1,128.50, generating about $9.24 million for scholarships and academic programs. A veteran-themed art exhibit featuring 19 paintings is on display at the Keathley University Center until mid-August with set viewing hours. Murfreesboro Post
- ➤ 317 school bus contractor drivers signed a new contract for the 2025—26 school year, with many drivers from the Rutherford County Bus Contractors Organization, according to school officials. Rutherford County Schools Director Dr. James Sullivan told the Budget and Investment Committee on May 29th that nearly all drivers accepted the updated terms. Murfreesboro Post
