  • Spire rebranded former Piedmont Natural Gas service as customers first saw new uniforms, badges, and vehicles with the fresh logo on June 1. Billing remained unchanged while the full transition is expected to finish by summer 2027.  NewsChannel 5

  • Carvel’s iconic Fudgie the Whale ice cream cake is now stocked at Publix Bakery freezers as a limited time summer treat serving 6 to 10 people.   • Three Rutherford County boys’ basketball teams advanced to the TSSAA state tournament; PCA won the Division II-A state title with Chris Washington, Jr. leading, Eagleville earned its first season with over 30 wins, and Blackman made its 12th state trip.   • Riverdale High School hired former assistant Wayne Kendrick as its new baseball coach on June 1 (replacing retired Barry Messer). Kendrick, a local former player for Riverdale and MTSU with minor league experience, is set to lead the team in upcoming competitions.  The Daily News Journal
  • Oakland High School named former Independence coach (MTSU standout) Mike McLaury as its new head baseball coach, replacing retiring Mack Hawks. He led Independence to two state tournaments and served as an assistant at MTSU.  The Daily News Journal
