  • Local seniors enjoyed AdamsPlace’s fourth annual Ride’N Slide event on June 6—sliding down a long plastic runner kept slick by the Fire-Rescue Department while MTSU athletes helped them onto inner tubes, and enjoying carnival-style attractions before a light afternoon rain ended the fun. AdamsPlace Executive Director Terri Deal and Rockvale Middle School cheerleaders boosted the festive mood with PA announcements and cheers that made the event a memorable summer outing.  WGNS
  • A zebra escaped from its owner and was spotted Friday morning near Christiana—deputies used a drone to track it before it trotted onto Interstate 24, where lane closures were put in place to keep motorists safe. Authorities ask residents to avoid the area as they work to safely capture the animal.  WGNS

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A crash that brought down power lines and a utility pole closed NW Broad Street in Murfreesboro today at the intersection of NW Broad Street and Medical Center Parkway—forcing emergency crews to restore power and clear debris.  Rutherford County Source

  • Bridgestone Americas will permanently close its truck and bus radial tire plant in La Vergne effective July 31, impacting 658 employees as the company seeks improved efficiency and competitiveness. Local workforce agencies will help affected workers while several companies discuss purchasing the property for redevelopment—La Vergne Mayor Jason Cole emphasized the city’s commitment to new investments.  WGNS

  • Rutherford County Sheriff’s deputies located the missing zebra Friday morning in a field near Christiana using a drone+ they are monitoring its movements while its owner has been contacted and a veterinarian called to help calm the animal.  Rutherford County Source
