- ➤ Ed the Zebra escaped his owner's care and raced along Interstate 24 near Buchanan Estates before surrendering on June 5 — officials from the Sheriff's Office, Highway Patrol and Wildlife Resources Agency airlifted him back to safety. His owner reported him missing on May 30 — and now local authorities review how he ended up in Christiana. WGNS
- ➤ On June 27, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., residents will gather at Lane Agri-Park for the 71st Annual Blackman Barbecue that offers slow-smoked barbecue, live music, and neighborly fellowship. Hosted by the Blackman Community Club, the event supports local scholarships and projects to help keep the Blackman Community Center running strong—continuing a tradition that began in 1947. WGNS

- ➤ The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued an endangered child alert for 15-year-old Jason Manson from Murfreesboro after he went missing on Sunday, June 8 at the corner of River Rock Boulevard and Sycamore Drive — he has a medical condition that may keep him from returning safely and police ask anyone with information to call 615-893-1311. - ➤ Murfreesboro native Nora Goodman Walsh was named the 2025 High School Chemistry Teacher of the Year by the American Association of Chemistry Teachers—she teaches at FJ Reitz High School in Evansville, Indiana and will receive a $1,000 cash prize and AACT membership renewal as part of the award. - ➤ The Tennessee Comptroller’s Office has taken control of the Rutherford County Assessor’s Office after an 11.3% error rate in property assessments was found, exceeding the allowed limit.
