- ➤ United Way of South Central Tennessee is accepting applications for its 2025 to 2026 Catalyst Program plus the program offers nine interactive sessions that teach nonprofit governance, fundraising, advocacy, and financial accountability. Applicants must attend at least five sessions, join a United Way volunteer opportunity, complete an agency project, and pay a $150 fee, with the introductory session set for Thursday, September 19 from 8 to 10 a.m. Rutherford County Source

- ➤ Murfreesboro’s The Boro Bar and Grill— a local landmark for 40 years— will close on July 5 as owner Lee Roberts retires; the bar celebrated its 40th anniversary on June 3 and is known for live music and local bands. Patrons are encouraged to visit before it closes to say goodbye. WGNS

- ➤ A troubled 19-year-old counter-protester, Elijah Millar, who brandished a gun at the ‘No Kings’ protest on Saturday, was re-arrested Tuesday on three counts of illegal firearm possession—Murfreesboro police and the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force later searched his west side home for evidence. - ➤ Zoe Scheiderich of Lebanon, a 22-year-old MTSU student and ballet teacher, was crowned Miss Tennessee 2025 during a two-night pageant at the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville—she won based on her community platform Triple E which stands for Elevating, Empowering, and Equipping Women and will represent Tennessee at Miss America in September. Analee Shaver of Collierville was also crowned Miss Tennessee’s Teen 2025 and will focus on anti-bullying efforts in schools. FOX 17

- ➤ On Tuesday, May 27, construction began in Clari Park with new projects including In-N-Out Burger, Townplace Suites by Marriott and Rowley luxury apartments that are expected to open later this summer—Neighbors Murfreesboro restaurant scene will open in June. The Daily News Journal
- ➤ Nissan’s Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant is in the national spotlight as four models built there are featured on the Cars.com American-Made Index for 2025. - ➤ Rutherford County officials remind residents to review fireworks laws ahead of the Fourth of July. Fireworks will be allowed only on July 3 and 4 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM in Murfreesboro, must be set off only from private property, and stores are required to hold state-issued permits + violations may result in fines and owner liability. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Between June 10th and 17th, 2025, health inspectors gave establishments in Rutherford County perfect scores of 100—covering food and pool sites as required by the health department; the scores were posted publicly as part of regular inspections. Rutherford County Source

- ➤ Blackman’s track & field relay teams won three state titles at Spring Fling and placed in the top five in five events — the girls scored 30 points in fourth while the boys scored 38 in fifth.
