- ➤ Police say 44-year-old Sarah Parsons died after her Nissan Xterra left the road and struck a utility pole on Murfreesboro Pike at British Woods Drive Tuesday at 9:25 p.m.—she was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. NewsChannel 5

- ➤ Murfreesboro police arrested 19-year-old Elijah Millar on three weapon charges from incidents on June 16 and in April after he reportedly made suicidal statements at a West Murfreesboro home—detectives served a warrant with FBI help and he is held without bond with a hearing set for July 21. - ➤ Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers and local law enforcement will set up a sobriety checkpoint Friday from 10 p.m. to midnight at U.S. Highway 231 North and Arnold Drive—Rutherford County Traffic Safety Task Force members will also check for impaired drivers. Rutherford County Source
- ➤ Rutherford County opened its new solid waste transfer station at 6000 Landfill Road on Tuesday, June 17th at 1 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The 12,000 to 12,500 sq ft facility consolidates waste from homes and businesses before compacting it for trucks—its self-sustaining design uses tipping fees and a five-year renewable contract with Waste Management.
