- ➤ Luanne R. James was named the new director of Rutherford County Libraries, effective July 28; she brings over 25 years of library leadership experience and will enhance digital programming and reading initiatives across all branches + her appointment comes as local interest in library services increases. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Rutherford County Library System received a $2,914 TOP Grant from the State of Tennessee to expand digital literacy lessons and improve internal internet access at its branches. Secretary of State Tre Hargett and state lawmakers + including Senators Dawn White and Shane Reeves supported the funding to boost modern library services. WGNS
- ➤ Mike and his son Carson work in Murfreesboro’s IT department to repair computers for the police and fire departments and support first responders. They began in IT after a broken $2,000 computer pushed Mike to learn tech (he now leads management systems) and Carson followed his lead (he has worked with the police department for over three years).
