- ➤ The historic Milano II at 114 E. College Street is now closed with dark windows and a 'for rent' sign posted outside—chef Jack Barakat now offers catering for weddings, showers and events from a new location. WGNS
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Tennessee residents can preorder a new Grand Ole Opry License Plate that celebrates 100 years of the country music icon by showing its famous barn, microphone stand and wooden circle. A portion of each $37 sale will benefit the Opry Trust Fund—preorders close in June and plates will later be sent to local county clerks for pick-up. Rutherford County Source
- ➤ Oaklands Mansion received an $85,000 grant from the state to complete maintenance work on the historic museum. The funding, awarded under a competitive Capital Maintenance and Improvements Grant program that accepted 157 applications, will help finish nearly completed upgrades. WGNS

- ➤ An analysis by Middle Tennessee State University found Tennessee’s housing market remained steady in the first quarter of 2025 with strong employment and multifamily construction permits rising 66% from the previous quarter + modest home price gains statewide. Regional trends varied as some areas saw stronger increases while others experienced slight declines. WGNS
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Cannonsburgh Village will receive a $50,000 grant from the Tennessee State Museum to support repair work on the Haynes Museum/Cotton Warehouse—a key historic structure in the village that shows local heritage. The funding is part of a $5 million state program for capital improvements and will help maintain the preservation efforts in the historic village. WGNS
- ➤ Deputy Director Ram Balachandran from the Transportation Department ran a computer model that shows motorists where they will face lane closures and detours on several roads from today until June 28—his report also warns that heat index levels over 100 may endanger outdoor workers. WGNS
- ➤ The Tennessee Department of Transportation is finalizing design and right-of-way acquisition for Thompson Lane widening on Murfreesboro’s northwest side to expand the roadway from two to five lanes and add sidewalks, a multi-use path and a new bridge over the West Fork Stones River. Construction will begin in Fiscal Year 2026 to ease traffic bottlenecks near NW Broad Street — improving safety and supporting future growth in the area. WGNS
