Murfreesboro officials seized over 60 pounds of methamphetamine, fentanyl, firearms, and money on June 25 during a six-month investigation led by the MPD Overdose Unit, the DEA Task Force Group One — and the Tennessee National Guard Counter Drug Task Force that began after an overdose death in December 2024 and later expanded into Nashville and California.

With temperatures soaring, Middle Tennessee Electric offered energy-saving advice to help members lower their bills—recommending residents raise thermostats to 76 to 78 degrees, change HVAC filters monthly, use blinds to block heat, and turn off unnecessary lights.

The cooperative also introduced a Levelized billing plan that will help customers manage expenses predictably during hotter months.

On June 18, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency withdrew its planned license fee increase after committee members pledged to find alternative funding for wildlife conservation—so hunting and fishing license fees will remain unchanged in July.
