On Saturday, July 4, the Celebration Under the Stars event will light up the Fountains at Gateway with food trucks, music, and family activities from 4:30 p.m., John Foster on stage at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks at 9 p.m. Road closures begin at 8:30 p.m.

30, the Tennessee Sunflower and Zinnia Festival from July 9, and Community Appreciation Day on Aug. 2—with additional seasonal events scheduled into winter.
United Way of South Central Tennessee opened its second Storybook Trail at the Patterson Park Community Center on Monday, June 29.
The trail, a partnership with City Parks + Recreation and MGL Memorial Library, uses child-height panels featuring the book We Share This Neighborhood to encourage family reading and play.
Downtown Murfreesboro will host a free celebration of America’s 250th on July 4 at 9:30 a.m., offering history tours, a scavenger hunt, a skit, kids’ activities, patriotic music, & 1,000 cupcakes at the Historic Rutherford County Courthouse.

A community mosaic mural titled 'The Patriot's Flag' made from 650 hand-painted tiles will be unveiled tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. on the historic Shacklett’s Photography building at 105 South Church Street (across from the County Courthouse) as part of the USA 250 Anniversary Celebration featuring a live Entice performance.

The Webb School appointed Bill McClain as its new Executive Director of Athletics on July 1.
He brings 15 years of experience from education and business and will support coaches + enhance athletic programs to boost student success.
Middle Tennessee State University professor Jonathan Trundle passed away June 26 and will be honored with a visitation and memorial service on July 11 at Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Murfreesboro.
Known for inspiring students with creativity + care, his legacy continues to influence many in the community.

State troopers ask Rutherford County residents to vote online for Tennessee’s entry in the Best Looking Cruiser Contest—voting ends Friday, July 10 and the new Chevy Tahoe at Bald River Falls could help earn the coveted front cover spot for the state.

The Predators acquired forward Nils Hoglander from Vancouver on June 29 in exchange for Colorado’s third-round pick in the 2029 NHL Draft — the 25-year-old winger is known for his relentless, high-energy play and is expected to boost the team’s lineup.
