Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue responded to an exterior fire at a Sapphire Drive home on July 5 caused by improperly discarded fireworks placed in a plastic trash can while still hot + crews quickly controlled the blaze before it spread, damaging the home’s siding and a nearby vehicle with no injuries reported.

A routine traffic stop on Lebanon Road near Matterhorn Drive in Wilson County last week ended with the arrest of a 53-year-old Nashville man who had an outstanding drug warrant from 1995—officers found marijuana, cocaine, digital scales and plastic baggies on him—while he resisted arrest.

Main Street Murfreesboro will host the Friday Night Live concert on July 11 with Sisters Wade Revival and the HipWaders playing country, bluegrass, and original songs in front of the Rutherford County Courthouse from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Streets will be closed to create a safe space for the free event—offering nearby parking and access to food trucks.
