  • Puckett's Restaurant in Murfreesboro is joining Feed the Community to offer nearly 4,000 free breakfasts and lunches to local children in need this summer. The restaurant is partnering with Boys and Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee and local groups to help reduce food insecurity when school is out.  WGNS

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fire crews responded to a fire at a home on Sapphire Drive on July 4 after used fireworks in a plastic trash can ignited flames on the house’s exterior + an investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office showed the fireworks had not been fully extinguished, causing damage to the siding and a nearby vehicle with no injuries reported.  Rutherford County Source

  • M.L.Rose Craft Beer & Burgers will open its eighth location in Murfreesboro — at 2108 Medical Center Parkway — in 2025 as it transforms an existing building with pop culture design and an expanded beverage menu offering both craft beer and non-beer options. Founder Austin Ray said guest requests and previous plans drove the move to find the ideal home for the chain.  Rutherford County Source

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Rutherford County's Middle Point Landfill is shrinking as more trash is produced by a growing population. Donna Barrett of the Central Tennessee Solid Waste Planning Board said local residents and businesses must recycle to hit a 25% diversion goal — a pilot program called Recycle Right Tennessee will soon offer drop-off points and may add curbside pick-up.  WGNS

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Nashville Sounds baseball club is auctioning game-worn military jerseys to benefit the Daniels Center at MTSU—an important center for student veterans—and fans may bid online until Sept. 12. The jerseys were worn on May 25 and June 6 and will be worn again on Sept. 11 for First Responders Night.  Murfreesboro.com
  • Today the Titans training camp sees quarterbacks Cam Ward, Will Levis, Brandon Allen, and Tim Boyle compete for the starting spot as Ward impressed during offseason work—leading in practice reps and showing improvement. The team plans to judge each player’s performance in upcoming joint practices and preseason games to finalize their lineup.  Rutherford County Source
  • MTCS student Jaxon Spray was named to the 2025 U-12 United States National Baseball Team after a week-long tryout at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. He will join Team USA to compete in the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup in Tainan, Taiwan from July 25 to August 3 — he will train in Los Angeles before the tournament.  Murfreesboro Post
