Rutherford County is growing fast as Murfreesboro’s population grew from 68,000 in 2000 to over 170,000 and the county now has 373,000 people with plans to reach more than 500,000 by 2045.

Mayor McFarland said 80% of the city’s money for improvements is spent on 54 road projects that will ease traffic—small family-run shops have mostly been replaced by big chain stores.
