Local gardeners received advice from Rutherford County Extension released Friday, July 17 on preventing plant diseases.
The guidance highlights proper watering, sanitation, and spacing to keep gardens healthy + encourages using disease-resistant varieties and early detection.
LaVergne High's Wolverine Doggy Daycare, launched in November 2025 by teachers Jordan Komers and Angayla Smith, is reviving the agricultural program by engaging students in animal care.
The daycare charges $6 per dog per day and plans to expand to include grooming equipment and a fenced play area within two years.

On July 9, the City Council voted to sell a 1.08-acre property on Old Salem Road to the nonprofit Journey Home for $1—a price far below its negotiated value of about $180,000.
The organization plans to build a parking lot, pavilion and green space on the site.

The 2026 US Youth Soccer National Championships – Girls are underway through July 23 with top teams competing at the Richard Siegel Soccer Complex in Murfreesboro and Rotary Soccer Park in Smyrna.
More than 300 teams, 7,000 players, and 10,000 fans are expected to boost local business (hotels, dining, attractions).
