- ➤ Middle Tennessee Electric and Murfreesboro celebrated five years since their $302 million merger that has provided over $60 million for city projects and nonprofits through the Community Investment Trust. The deal, approved in 2020, led to MTE wiring its fifth installment of $17,290,133.38 on July 1 — funds that helped improve streetlighting, lower connection fees and upgrade service for residents. - ➤ Murfreesboro City Council voted last Thursday to annex Middle Point Landfill so the city can enforce local rules on property upkeep, stormwater management and fire inspections.
