The free Fearsome Folklore Festival will take place Saturday, August 23 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Hop Springs in Murfreesboro—featuring speakers, live music, a cryptid drawing workshop, a painting station, a petting zoo, games, food trucks, beer, vendor booths, and even a unicorn—designed to offer family-friendly fun for all.

Uncle Dave Macon Days is now rebranded as Roots Rendezvous at Hop Springs and will celebrate local heritage with music, art and dance from September 19—21, honoring the famed banjoist.

The festival also will feature the 17th annual Hammer Down for Habitat Poker Run on September 20 starting at 8:00 a.m.—a partnership that brings family fun and community spirit together.

Murfreesboro officials revealed a proposed settlement with Middle Point Landfill and Republic Services to resolve a lawsuit filed in 2022 that requires environmental measures such as treatment systems for reducing forever chemicals — a public meeting to vote on the settlement is scheduled for Thursday, July 31 at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.

The U.S. Department of State will host passport fairs in Murfreesboro and Nashville next week to help locals apply for a new passport or renew a child’s passport.

In Murfreesboro, the event will be held on Tuesday, July 29 at The Plaza Room at 1500 Medical Center Pkwy — adults pay $165 and children pay $135 with proper ID and citizenship proof required.

Middle Tennessee Athletics said former Blue Raider Volleyball coach Matt Peck passed away after a 12-season career in Murfreesboro—he led the team to six straight NCAA Tournament appearances and helped build a championship legacy.
