- ➤ Middle Tennessee State University will host a free local history program from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 20 in downtown Murfreesboro where participants will tour exhibits at the Rutherford County Courthouse plus explore the Heritage Center to learn about local preservation efforts. - ➤ MTSU opened its 90000 square foot Applied Engineering Building on Aug. 6 with hundreds in attendance—this three-story facility now houses the Mechatronics Engineering program and labs to train students for careers in robotics and automation. Murfreesboro Post

- ➤ The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office earned two top awards at the Tennessee Highway Safety Office’s conference in Nashville from Aug. 6 through Aug. 8. Patrol Sgt. - ➤ Today, the Murfreesboro Transportation Department warns that extensive roadwork—spanning I-24 ramp improvements, intersection widening and Google Fiber installations—will cause lane closures and traffic delays until August 16.
