  • Barrett Rifles broke ground on its new facility at 8808 Manchester Pike in Rutherford County and will add nearly 200 jobs—Governor Bill Lee noted the expansion as a long-term investment in the skilled workforce.  FOX 17

CULTURE NEWS

  • A Walter Hill Fall Festival will be held at Heartland Baptist Church on September 27th from 8 a.m. — 4 p.m. The event will include food trucks, vendors and contests such as a baking contest and a pumpkin pie eating contest.  Rutherford County Source
  • Steve Cates and his team are preparing for the next International Folkfest in Murfreesboro—set for June 7—14—where confirmed groups from France and Sicily will perform while groups from Germany, Croatia, and Italy are under consideration. The Cripple Creek Cloggers and The Slim Chance Band will represent the United States at the CIOFF Santarém Festival in Portugal from August 28—September 8, marking their first performance there since 1981.  WGNS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • RCSO supervisors Lt. Michael Rodgers and Sgt. David Alford graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command after a 10-week course that taught budgeting, leadership, and administrative skills & effective resource management. Patrol Capt. Chris Kauffman said the training will prepare them for higher roles and help them guide their teams.  WGNS

  • In a Friday night preseason game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Titans beat the Falcons 23-20 as rookies made key plays. Elic Ayomanor caught a 35-yard pass and Gunnar Helm scored a touchdown — moves that encouraged coach Callahan despite limited offensive chances.  Murfreesboro Post
