Buc-ee's will open a new travel center in Murfreesboro on Nov.
16; the location is expected to bring over 200 jobs as part of its nationwide expansion.
Curry Up Now will open its first Tennessee location in Smyrna on Sat., Aug.
22 at 11 a.m. Owned by the Patel family, the restaurant hosts a grand opening with free burritos, a live DJ and prize wheel at 2160 Rock Springs Road, Suite 600.

The Center for the Arts will stage Next to Normal—a Pulitzer-winning rock musical that explores mental illness—from Aug.
21 to 30 at 110 West College Street; tickets cost $25 for a two-and-a-half-hour live performance.
🎓 Education
Rockvale High School's Fire Management and Science program received a fully-equipped fire truck from Rutherford County Fire Department on Monday, Aug.
17. The truck, housed at Rockvale High in the new Emergency Services building, will offer hands-on learning and help attract new students.

Dr. Jeff Peterson at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic on Garrison Drive performs the muscle-sparing Jiffy Knee procedure to help osteoarthritis patients recover faster with less pain.
Patients often go home the same day after this innovative surgery.
TDOC will host a free Overdose Awareness Day event at the Murfreesboro Community Resource Center on Thursday, Aug.
27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event offers overdose education, guest speakers, resource booths, and local food trucks for recovery support.

On Aug. 17, the Titans held training camp where coach Robert Saleh said rookie Fernando Carmona Jr. showed strong promise for the right guard role.
The team also worked on improving cornerback play as Cam Ward tried to steady his passing ahead of the Seahawks game.
High school football begins this week with a full schedule of Week 1 games in Tennessee and nearby states (including Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia).
The matchups across East, Middle, and West Tennessee will be live on the NFHS Network.
The Tennessee Sports Writers Association released preseason high school football rankings on Monday, listing top teams in six Division I classes and three Division II groups based on votes from regional media (with first-place votes noted).
TSWA will update the rankings every Monday as the season continues.
A local poll is underway to name the top TSSAA volleyball player, inviting residents to vote for nominees including Layla Thomas, Emery Bland, Campbell Leathers, Maddy Dare Grubb, Carlina Bauer, Ryann Stavnes, Abby Zimmerman, Emily Dickens, Camryn Keckler and Rayne White.
Voting will close Friday, Aug. 21 at noon.
