ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Tuesday night, Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department crews responded to a fire at Backyard Buildings on NW Broad Street—flames, explosions, and heavy damage to sheds and tow motors were reported while the Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the cause.  Rutherford County Source

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Buona Beef in Murfreesboro is hiring cooks, guest service associates, front-of-house staff, and Rainbow Cone scoopers ahead of its grand opening on September 16. The restaurant will hold walk-up interviews for candidates (at 2724 Robbie Cor Lane behind Whataburger on Medical Center).  Murfreesboro.com

CRIME NEWS

  • K9 Deputy Aaron Price and K9 Hector were named Officers of the Month for August after stopping a driver on Aug. 11 on Halls Hill Pike — Price discovered a magnetic case holding nine grams of meth along with marijuana and paraphernalia while Hector pinpointed the drug odor, and the driver, a convicted felon, now faces felony charges.  Rutherford County Source

  • New signs have been installed around downtown to encourage residents to support local charities instead of giving money to panhandlers — part of the Better Way to Give campaign that began on August 18. City officials stress that donations provide long-term help and note that soliciting from vehicles is illegal.  FOX 17

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Murfreesboro’s real estate market stayed steady as WalletHub ranked the city 15th overall and 8th among midsize markets after analyzing 300 cities on 17 metrics. Local experts note strong job growth and home-price gains but warn that a high level of delinquent mortgages—forcing caution for buyers and sellers—is a concern.  WGNS
